All's Well That Ends Well — Act 3, Scene 6: Camp before Florence.

At Florence, Bertram talks with two French lords about Parolles and his boast that he can recover the drum. The lords insist Parolles is a coward and liar, and they plan to trick him by capturing and examining him, with Bertram present, to prove he will betray them under pressure. Bertram agrees to test him and lets Parolles go on with the scheme. After Parolles leaves, the lords mock his confidence and prepare the ambush. Bertram then says he will take the first lord to meet the “lass” he mentioned before, meaning Diana, and explains that he has only spoken to her once and received back the letters and gifts he sent.
