These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Dramatis (the “Service”), including the website, any associated APIs, any AI-assisted study features, and any paid access made available through user accounts.
By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.
1. The Service
Dramatis is a digital study and revision platform designed to support learning about Shakespeare and preparing for literature examinations.
The Service consists of:
- Free features, including public reading access and read-only API access
- Optional paid features, offered through subscription plans (“Paid Services”)
Dramatis is intended for educational, study-support, and non-commercial use.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian, to create an account.
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activity that occurs under your account
You agree not to:
- Share your account with others
- Attempt to access systems or data you are not authorized to use
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation
3. Free access
Access to the core Dramatis experience — including reading features and public API access — is provided free of charge.
Free access may be subject to reasonable technical limits (such as rate limiting) to protect the integrity and availability of the Service.
We reserve the right to modify or discontinue free features at any time.
4. Paid access and billing
Certain features of the Service are offered on a paid subscription basis (“Paid Services”).
If you choose to subscribe:
- Pricing and included features will be clearly disclosed prior to purchase
- Charges are billed on a recurring monthly basis unless we clearly state otherwise
- Your subscription will automatically renew each billing period until cancelled
- You are responsible for all applicable fees, taxes, and charges associated with your purchase.
- Completion of checkout does not guarantee academic outcomes, marks, grades, or admissions results.
5. AI usage limits
Some Paid Services may include capped AI usage or similar allowances.
Unless expressly stated otherwise:
- AI usage limits may reset on the schedule described at the point of purchase or in-product
- Unused allowance does not roll over to subsequent billing periods
- Usage limits have no cash value and cannot be transferred, refunded, or redeemed
- We may measure usage by request volume, token usage, or underlying provider cost
6. Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings or via the Stripe billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain access until then.
Stopping use of the Service does not entitle you to a refund or partial refund.
7. Refunds
All paid fees are non-refundable, except where required by applicable law.
We do not provide refunds or service credits for:
- Unused access time
- Unused or expired AI usage allowance
- Downgrades or feature changes
Where mandatory consumer rights apply, those rights are not affected by this section.
8. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service responsibly and in good faith.
You must not:
- Circumvent technical safeguards, rate limits, or access controls
- Use the Service in a way that disrupts or degrades availability
- Scrape, crawl, or harvest the Service in a manner that imposes unreasonable load
- Misrepresent outputs from the Service as authoritative or definitive scholarly sources
- Use the Service for unlawful, abusive, or harmful purposes
9. Artificial intelligence features
The Service may include features powered by artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
You acknowledge and agree that:
- AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading
- AI outputs do not constitute official examiner marking, teacher feedback, scholarly, legal, or professional advice
- You are solely responsible for evaluating and verifying any AI-generated content
- You must not rely on AI-generated outputs as authoritative or error-free.
10. No scholarly or professional reliance
Dramatis is not a scholarly edition and does not provide authoritative texts or interpretations.
For formal academic or professional work, you must consult recognized scholarly editions, official course documents, and primary sources.
11. Educational outcomes disclaimer
Dramatis is a study-support tool only. We do not warrant that use of the Service will improve marks, guarantee passing results, produce a particular grade band, or match the judgement of any examiner, teacher, school, examination body, university, or regulator.
Any scores, essay plans, quote suggestions, feedback, revision prompts, or “top-band” guidance are indicative learning aids and must not be treated as official marking or guaranteed outcomes.
12. Availability and changes
The Service is provided on an as-available basis.
We reserve the right to:
- Modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service
- Change pricing, features, or access structures
- Impose or adjust technical limits
13. No warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator(s) of Dramatis shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from:
- Use of or inability to use the Service
- Reliance on textual or AI-generated content
- Purchase decisions or usage credit exhaustion
- Academic, examination, coursework, assessment, or admissions outcomes
- Errors, omissions, or interruptions
Your sole remedy is to discontinue use of the Service.
15. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dramatis and its operators from claims, liabilities, losses, and expenses arising out of your misuse of the Service, breach of these Terms, or violation of applicable law.
16. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Service if these Terms are violated or the Service is misused.
17. Privacy
