Antony and Cleopatra — Act 4, Scene 5: Alexandria. MARK ANTONY's camp.

Trumpets sound as Antony enters with Eros and meets a soldier, who brings him the shocking news that Enobarbus has deserted him and gone over to Caesar. Antony is stunned and asks whether Enobarbus has taken his treasure too; when Eros says he has left his chests behind, Antony immediately orders Eros to send the treasure after him. He also tells Eros to write Enobarbus a letter of farewell, while Antony will sign it himself, and to wish him well with his new master. Antony blames his own fortunes for corrupting an honest man and calls after Enobarbus in grief as the men leave.
