Much Ado About Nothing — Act 2, Scene 2: The same.

Don John and Borachio agree to ruin Claudio’s marriage to Hero. Borachio explains that because Margaret, Hero’s waiting gentlewoman, favors him, he can arrange for Margaret to appear at Hero’s chamber window at a bad time. Don John will then tell Don Pedro and Claudio that Hero is unfaithful and make them watch Borachio and Margaret as false proof. Borachio says they should see enough to believe that Hero is disloyal, and Don John is eager to use any means to harm Claudio and Leonato. He promises Borachio a large reward and goes off to learn the wedding day so the plan can be carried out.
