Much Ado About Nothing — Act 3, Scene 3: A street.

On the street at night, Dogberry and Verges give the Watch a muddled set of instructions, telling them to patrol quietly around Leonato’s house and watch for trouble because the wedding is to take place there the next day. After Dogberry and Verges leave, Borachio arrives with Conrade and, not realizing the Watch is nearby, boasts that Don John has paid him well. He explains that he wooed Margaret at Hero’s chamber window while Don Pedro and Claudio watched, thinking they saw Hero being unfaithful. The Watch hears enough to understand that Borachio has helped stage a serious deception, and they seize Borachio and Conrade.
