Much Ado About Nothing — Act 3, Scene 5: Another room in LEONATO'S house.

Leonato is hurried by Dogberry and Verges, who come to tell him that the night watch has caught two suspicious men in Messina. Their talk is full of confusion and self-importance, but Leonato understands that they want the prisoners examined. He is impatient because the wedding preparations are under way and asks Dogberry to handle the matter himself and bring the men’s statements later. Before Leonato can stay, a messenger arrives to say that everyone is waiting for him to give Hero to her husband. Leonato leaves at once, and Dogberry sends Verges to bring the parish clerk to the jail so the prisoners can be formally examined.
