Pericles, Prince of Tyre — Act 2, Scene 5: Pentapolis. A room in the palace.

Simonides reads a letter from Thaisa saying she will not marry for a year, and he sends the knights away after telling them they cannot see her. He then reads Thaisa’s private message that she wants to marry the stranger knight, Pericles, and approves her choice. When Pericles enters, Simonides praises his music and questions him about Thaisa. He shows Pericles the letter, then accuses him of winning Thaisa’s love by trickery. Thaisa appears and supports Pericles, and Simonides reveals that he has approved the match all along. He orders them to marry at once and be joined as husband and wife.
