Pericles, Prince of Tyre — Act 3, Scene 4: Ephesus. A room in Cerimon's house.

Cerimon returns Thaisa her letter and jewels from the chest, and she recognizes her husband’s hand. She remembers being carried at sea in labor and, believing Pericles is lost to her forever, decides to give up worldly life and become a votaress of Diana. Cerimon approves and offers her lodging at Diana’s temple, along with the care of a female relative. After they exit, Gower briefly tells the audience that Pericles has safely reached Tyre and that Thaisa remains at Ephesus. He then turns the story toward Marina at Tarsus, praising her education and noting that her beauty and skill awaken envy.
