Pericles, Prince of Tyre — Act 4, Scene 6: The same. A room in the brothel.

In the brothel, Pandar, the Bawd, and Boult complain that Marina is ruining their business because she refuses customers and speaks like a virtuous woman. Lysimachus, the governor of Mytilene, comes in and is brought to her. He questions her as if she were for sale, but Marina answers boldly, reminding him to act honorably. She tells him she is a maid trapped in a corrupt place, and her words shame him into leaving her money and withdrawing in disgust. Boult then tries to force her, but Marina persuades him by offering her skills in singing, sewing, weaving, and dancing, and he agrees to speak to his masters about it.
