Pericles, Prince of Tyre — Act 5, Scene 3: The temple of Diana at Ephesus; Thaisa standing

At Diana’s temple in Ephesus, Pericles obeys the goddess’s command and tells of his life: his marriage to Thaisa, her supposed death at sea, Marina’s birth, and Marina’s reunion with him in Mytilene. Thaisa, standing nearby as a votaress, hears his voice and nearly faints when she realizes who he is. Cerimon confirms that the woman is indeed Thaisa, rescued from a coffin washed ashore and brought to the temple. Thaisa and Pericles recognize each other, then Marina kneels to her mother and is identified as their daughter. Pericles also reunites Thaisa with Helicanus, praises Cerimon, and asks to hear the rest of Thaisa’s rescue before leaving with the company.
