Romeo and Juliet — Act 1, Scene 0: PROLOGUE

The prologue introduces the play’s setting in Verona, where two wealthy households are locked in an old and violent feud. Their hatred has already caused public disorder and bloodshed. It also presents the central story: a pair of young lovers from these enemy families will fall in love, suffer tragic misfortune, and die. Their deaths will end the quarrel between their parents.
