Romeo and Juliet — Act 1, Scene 2: A street.

Capulet meets with Paris, who is asking to marry Capulet’s daughter. Capulet says Juliet is still too young and wants Paris to win her consent before any marriage is considered. He invites Paris to a feast at his house that night and tells a servant to deliver written invitations to the guests named on a list. The servant cannot read and asks Romeo and Benvolio for help. Romeo learns from the list that Rosaline will be at Capulet’s party. Benvolio urges him to go and compare Rosaline with other women there, and Romeo agrees to attend with him.
