Romeo and Juliet — Act 2, Scene 3: Friar Laurence's cell.

At dawn in Friar Laurence’s cell, the friar gathers herbs and reflects on how plants can heal or poison, using them as a lesson that good and evil can be mixed in both nature and people. Romeo arrives unexpectedly and admits he has not been to bed because he spent the night with Juliet, the Capulet daughter. He asks Friar Laurence to marry them that day. The friar is surprised that Romeo has so quickly abandoned Rosaline, but Romeo insists his love for Juliet is sincere. Seeing a chance that the match might help end the feud, Friar Laurence agrees to assist and leaves with Romeo, warning him not to rush.
