The First part of King Henry the Sixth — Act 2, Scene 5: The Tower of London.

At the Tower, the dying Mortimer is brought in by gaolers and waits for his nephew Richard Plantagenet, who has just been insulted by Somerset. Mortimer and Richard embrace, and Richard asks why his father was executed. Mortimer explains the York family claim: Henry IV seized the crown from the rightful heir, and later Mortimer’s own supporters were destroyed. He says Richard is now his heir because he has no children, but warns him to be cautious because the house of Lancaster is strong. Mortimer dies after asking Richard to arrange his funeral. Richard orders the body removed, then leaves determined to seek redress in parliament.
