The First part of King Henry the Sixth — Act 3, Scene 2: France. Before Rouen.

Joan la Pucelle enters Rouen disguised as a peasant with four soldiers carrying sacks, and she fools the city watch into opening the gates. Once inside, she signals Charles, the Bastard of Orleans, Alencon, and Reignier with a torch from the tower. They use the sign to rush the walls and attack the English guard. Talbot arrives in fury, blaming Joan’s trickery, and confronts the French from outside the city. Bedford, weak and carried in a chair, refuses Talbot’s attempt to move him away and insists on staying near the fight. The French then flee, Bedford dies, and Talbot and Burgundy retake Rouen, while Talbot orders the city secured and honors Bedford’s death.
