The Life and Death of Julius Caesar — Act 1, Scene 3: The same. A street.

During a stormy night, Casca meets Cicero and describes the terrifying signs he has seen around Rome: fire in a slave’s hand, a lion near the Capitol, frightened women seeing men on fire, and an owl in daylight. Cicero suggests people can interpret strange events however they want, then leaves when he learns Caesar will go to the Capitol the next day. Cassius arrives and speaks with Casca about the storm as a sign of corruption in the world. He openly connects the unrest to Caesar’s rise and says Caesar can be challenged. Cinna joins them, reports that other conspirators are waiting, and asks Cassius to win Brutus. Cassius sends letters to Brutus and plans to see him before dawn.
