The Life and Death of Richard the Third — Act 4, Scene 2: London. The palace.

Richard is crowned in the palace and immediately tests Buckingham’s loyalty by hinting that he wants Prince Edward and his brother murdered. Buckingham hesitates and asks for time, which Richard takes as disloyalty. Richard then decides Buckingham is no longer fit for his private counsel and sends for Tyrrel, a man the page says is willing to be bought. Richard also hears that Dorset has fled to Richmond and orders Catesby to spread the false report that Anne is sick and near death so he can keep her hidden. When Buckingham returns to demand the promised earldom of Hereford, Richard refuses to reward him, and Buckingham leaves in anger and fear.
