The Life and Death of Richard the Third — Act 4, Scene 4: Before the palace.

Queen Margaret, hiding near the palace, watches Queen Elizabeth and the Duchess of York arrive to mourn their dead sons and husbands. Margaret joins their grief, but she also bitterly reminds them that the losses they suffer now are the result of the wrongs they once helped bring about. The three women compare their ruined families, and Margaret, satisfied with the suffering before her, withdraws. Richard then enters marching with drums and trumpets, and the Duchess and Elizabeth attack him with curses and accusations. Richard tries to silence them with noise and turns to Elizabeth, who agrees, under pressure, to speak for his marriage proposal to her daughter.
