The Life of King Henry the Fifth — Act 3, Scene 5: The same.

At the French court, the King of France hears that Henry has crossed the Somme, and the Constable argues that France must fight or abandon the country. The Dauphin and Bourbon mock the English while also worrying that the French nobility has become soft and ashamed. The Constable wonders how the English have shown such spirit, and the King orders Montjoy the herald to challenge England and demand surrender. He rallies the French nobles to take the field and bring Henry back as a prisoner. The Constable adds that Henry’s army is small, sick, and hungry, and the King orders the Dauphin to remain in Rouen despite his protest.
