The Second part of King Henry the Sixth — Act 1, Scene 1: London. The palace.

At the palace in London, Suffolk presents Queen Margaret to King Henry and explains that he has completed the arranged marriage in France. Henry welcomes Margaret warmly, and the court greets her as queen. When the marriage contract is read, it is revealed that England must give up Anjou and Maine, which angers Gloucester and the other nobles. Gloucester protests bitterly against the loss of French territory and leaves in outrage. Winchester then turns the lords against Gloucester, while Buckingham and Somerset speak of removing him. Salisbury, Warwick, and York respond by defending the realm, and York privately reveals his own ambition and resentment.
