The Second part of King Henry the Sixth — Act 4, Scene 8: Southwark.

At Southwark, Cade’s rebels are still raging through the streets when a trumpet sounds a parley. Buckingham and Clifford arrive from King Henry with a pardon for any of Cade’s followers who will abandon the rebellion and return home. Clifford urges the commons to choose loyalty to the king, and the rebels quickly switch sides, shouting for Henry. Cade tries to shame them for betraying him and claims they are no better than slaves to the nobility, but Clifford’s speech about France and Henry the Fifth wins the crowd over completely. Cade sees his men turning against him and flees. Buckingham orders pursuit and tells the soldiers to help bring the rebels back to the king.
