The Taming of the Shrew — Act 4, Scene 3: A room in PETRUCHIO'S house.

In Petruchio’s house, Katharina complains to Grumio that Petruchio is starving her under the pretense of love, and she begs for food. Grumio teases her by naming dishes one by one until Petruchio and Hortensio arrive with meat, and Petruchio insists he has been caring for her himself. After she thanks him, he calls for the tailor and haberdasher to show the clothes he has ordered for her. He rejects the cap and gown as ugly and improper, argues with the tailor, and sends him away. Then he tells Katharina they will go to her father’s house in these plain clothes, but he delays the trip by refusing to leave when she says it is already afternoon.
