The Third part of King Henry the Sixth — Act 1, Scene 2: Sandal Castle.

At Sandal Castle, Richard, Edward, and Montague argue over who should explain their claim to the crown before York enters. Edward and Gloucester press York to take the throne now, but York reminds them of his oath to let Henry reign. Gloucester argues that the oath is invalid because Henry was never the rightful king, and he urges York to win the crown by force. York then assigns the brothers to gather support from Warwick, Norfolk, and Cobham. A messenger arrives to warn that Queen Margaret is approaching with a large army to besiege the castle. York prepares for battle, and the family hears drums and moves out to fight.
