The Third part of King Henry the Sixth — Act 2, Scene 2: Before York.

King Henry, Queen Margaret, Prince Edward, Clifford, and Northumberland enter the town of York with York’s severed head displayed before Henry. Margaret mocks Henry and tries to harden his resolve, but Henry grieves the sight and says the loss troubles him. Clifford argues that Henry must abandon pity and support young Edward as his heir, and Henry reluctantly knights the prince. A messenger then reports that Warwick is coming with a large force to restore Edward’s claim. Edward, George, Richard, and Warwick arrive with their soldiers, and both sides trade bitter insults over the crown. Henry tries to speak, but the quarrel quickly turns to open battle.
