The Third part of King Henry the Sixth — Act 2, Scene 6: Another part of the field.

Clifford enters wounded and, sensing he is dying, laments that his fall will help the Yorkists and bring ruin to Lancaster. He blames Henry’s weakness for encouraging York’s rise and declares that his wounds are beyond healing. After he faints, Edward, George, Richard, Montague, Warwick, and their soldiers enter as the battle ends and the queen’s forces retreat. They discover Clifford is the dying man and mock him for his killings of Rutland and York. Warwick orders Clifford’s head cut off and placed where York’s had been. He then urges Edward to march to London for his coronation and speaks of arranging a marriage in France. Edward agrees and grants Richard and George new dukedoms.
