The Tragedy of Coriolanus — Act 4, Scene 6: Rome. A public place.

Sicinius and Brutus begin by boasting that Coriolanus’s absence has left Rome peaceful and that his friends should be ashamed to miss him. Menenius arrives, and they exchange polite greetings while Menenius says Coriolanus is only missed by those close to him. A group of citizens thank the tribunes, and the tribunes respond as if they still favor the people. They then argue over Coriolanus’s character when an aedile reports alarming news that the Volsces have entered Roman territory. More messengers confirm that Coriolanus has joined Aufidius against Rome and is advancing with an army. Cominius brings worse news, and the citizens, now frightened, leave for home.
