The Tragedy of Macbeth — Act 1, Scene 2: A camp near Forres.

In a Scottish camp near Forres, King Duncan and his sons Malcolm and Donalbain receive a wounded sergeant who reports the battle against the rebels and the Norwegians. He praises Macbeth as a fearless fighter who killed the rebel Macdonwald and helped turn the fight, though the enemy then attacked again with fresh forces. Ross arrives with news that Macbeth and Banquo have won the battle for Scotland. He also says the Norwegians now seek peace and must pay a large sum before they can bury their dead. Duncan orders the traitorous Thane of Cawdor put to death and decides that Macbeth will receive Cawdor’s title.
