The Tragedy of Macbeth — Act 2, Scene 1: Court of Macbeth's castle.

Banquo and his son Fleance walk through the night outside Macbeth’s castle, carrying torches and talking about the late hour. Banquo feels sleepy but uneasy, and he asks for his sword while trying to keep troubling thoughts away. Macbeth enters with a servant, and Banquo tells him that King Duncan has gone to bed content after enjoying Macbeth’s hospitality and sending gifts to Lady Macbeth. Banquo briefly mentions that he dreamed of the witches, but Macbeth avoids the subject and suggests they talk later. After Banquo and Fleance leave, Macbeth sees a dagger in the air, takes it as a sign, and steels himself for the murder. When a bell rings, he goes off to carry it out.
