The Tragedy of Macbeth — Act 5, Scene 3: Dunsinane. A room in the castle.

At Dunsinane, Macbeth refuses any more bad reports and clings to the witches’ promises, especially that no man born of woman can harm him and that Birnam Wood must move before he fears defeat. When a servant reports the approaching English forces, Macbeth abuses him, then calls for Seyton, admitting privately that he feels sick at heart and sees his life as entering old age without honor, love, or loyal friends. Seyton confirms the reports, and Macbeth orders his armor and preparations for battle. He also asks the Doctor about Lady Macbeth’s condition, but rejects medicine when told her mind must heal itself, then insists he will face the English and leave.
