Troilus and Cressida — Act 1, Scene 2: The Same. A street.

Cressida and Alexander watch Queen Hecuba and Helen go up to the eastern tower to view the battle. Alexander explains that Hector has been angered because Ajax, a Greek lord of Trojan blood, defeated him in combat. Pandarus arrives and turns the conversation to praising Troilus, whom he treats as greater than Hector. He boisterously describes the warriors passing by after the retreat, naming Aeneas, Antenor, Hector, Paris, Helenus, and Troilus, and Cressida teases him throughout. After Troilus’s boy comes to summon Pandarus to his house, Pandarus leaves. Cressida then speaks privately about how she hides her feelings and resists easy surrender in love.
