Troilus and Cressida — Act 5, Scene 9: Another part of the plains.

Hector enters alone after killing a warrior and takes off his helmet, thinking his fighting for the day is finished. Achilles then arrives with the Myrmidons and spots Hector at a moment when Hector is unarmored and vulnerable. Hector asks Achilles to fight him fairly, but Achilles ignores the appeal and orders his men to attack. Hector is struck down and killed. Achilles celebrates the death, tells the Myrmidons to proclaim that he has slain Hector, then notices a retreat sounding from both armies as night falls. He sheathes his sword and orders Hector’s body tied to his horse’s tail so it can be dragged across the field.
