Two Gentlemen of Verona — Act 5, Scene 3: The frontiers of Mantua. The forest.

The outlaws bring Silvia into the forest and tell her they must take her to their captain. Silvia accepts her misfortune calmly and says she has endured worse than this. One outlaw asks where the gentleman who was with her has gone, and another reports that he has run ahead, while two other outlaws pursue him through the woods. They divide their forces, sending one man with Silvia toward the western part of the wood where their captain is waiting, and others after the fleeing gentleman. The first outlaw reassures Silvia that their captain is honorable and will not treat a woman badly, but Silvia laments that she suffers all this for Valentine.
