A Midsummer Night's Dream — Act 1, Scene 2: Athens. QUINCE'S house.

In Quince’s house, Peter Quince gathers his small acting company to organize a play they will perform for Theseus and Hippolyta on their wedding night. He announces that they will stage the tragic story of Pyramus and Thisby and assigns each man a role. Bottom, the weaver, keeps interrupting with opinions about acting and asks for bigger parts, especially the lion. Flute objects to playing Thisby because he is growing a beard, but Quince insists. Snug worries he has no lines for the lion. Quince finally hands out the parts, tells them to memorize their speeches, and orders them to meet in the wood to rehearse by moonlight.
