A Midsummer Night's Dream — Act 4, Scene 2: Athens. QUINCE'S house.

Quince, Flute, Snout, and Starveling worry that Bottom has not returned and fear the play cannot go on without him, since they think no one else in Athens can play Pyramus as well. Snug arrives and reports that the Duke is coming from the temple with other newly married nobles, which makes the actors realize they have missed their chance to perform. Bottom then appears and tells them the play has been approved at court. He orders them to gather their costumes, review their parts, and come to the palace at once. He also gives practical instructions about the actress playing Thisby, the man playing the lion, and even what they should not eat before performing.
