All's Well That Ends Well — Act 1, Scene 2: Paris. The KING's palace.

At the king’s palace in Paris, the King of France talks with his lords about the war between Florence and Siena and says Florence has already been denied aid. Bertram arrives with Lafeu and Parolles, and the King welcomes him warmly, praising Bertram’s late father and recalling the elder Count’s honor, self-control, and value as a soldier and courtier. Bertram responds respectfully and is honored by these comparisons. The King then turns to his own failing health, asks about the physician who treated Bertram’s father, and says he would still trust that doctor if he were alive. He ends by treating Bertram almost like a son before the group leaves.
