Antony and Cleopatra — Act 3, Scene 10: Another part of the plain.

On the battlefield, Canidius leads Antony’s land forces one way while Taurus marches off with Caesar’s army, and the sound of a sea battle is heard. Enobarbus watches Antony’s fleet break and says he cannot bear to look. Scarus enters full of anger and describes how Cleopatra’s ships fled in panic and Antony followed her, abandoning the fight in disgrace. Canidius then confirms that Antony’s choice has ruined their chance at victory, and he decides to surrender his legions and cavalry to Caesar, noting that other kings are already yielding. Enobarbus, though ashamed, says he will still follow Antony’s fallen cause.
