Antony and Cleopatra — Act 3, Scene 11: Alexandria. CLEOPATRA's palace.

After Antony’s defeat, he enters with his attendants and declares that he has lost his place in the world and no longer has command. He tells his followers to take a ship loaded with gold, divide the treasure, and make peace with Caesar, but they refuse to leave him. Cleopatra arrives with Charmian, Iras, and Eros, and Antony is overwhelmed with shame at seeing her. He blames Egypt for leading him into ruin, and Cleopatra begs his pardon for fleeing in battle. Antony admits that love has weakened him, but a kiss from Cleopatra comforts him. He asks for wine and food and leaves with her.
