Antony and Cleopatra — Act 4, Scene 6: Alexandria. OCTAVIUS CAESAR's camp.

Caesar orders Agrippa to begin the battle and publicly directs that Antony be taken alive. He then reflects that a final peace may be close and, after hearing that Antony has entered the field, tells Agrippa to place the soldiers who have recently defected in the front line so Antony will seem to fight against his own men. Once Caesar leaves, Enobarbus stays behind and laments that he has helped Antony’s enemies, noting that Alexas was already punished for doing the same. A soldier then brings Enobarbus the treasure Antony has sent after him, but the gift only deepens his shame. Enobarbus curses himself and decides to die.
