Antony and Cleopatra — Act 4, Scene 8: Under the walls of Alexandria.

After defeating Caesar’s forces and driving them back to camp, Antony sends someone ahead to tell Cleopatra of their success. He praises the soldiers for fighting bravely and tells them to return to Alexandria proudly and show their wives and friends their wounds. When Cleopatra arrives, Antony greets her with triumph and affection, saying she should rejoice in his victory. He singles out Scarus for special praise and tells Cleopatra to honor him with a kiss and a gift of armor. Antony then orders a victorious march through Alexandria, calls for trumpets and drums, and proposes a celebratory supper for the army before the next day’s fighting.
