Antony and Cleopatra — Act 4, Scene 13: Alexandria. Cleopatra's palace.

Cleopatra enters with Charmian, Iras, and Mardian in panic over Antony’s furious anger after accusing her of betraying him. She says he is crazed and beyond control. Charmian advises her to hide in the monument and send Antony word that she is dead, hoping to soften his rage. Cleopatra accepts the plan at once and repeats the idea of going to the monument. She tells Mardian to report to Antony that she has killed herself, that her last word was his name, and to describe carefully how he responds to the news. The women then leave together.
