Cymbeline — Act 1, Scene 2: The same. A public place.

Cloten enters with two lords after his confrontation with Posthumus, and the lords tease him for returning without real damage to his opponent. Cloten tries to save face by insisting Posthumus would not stand and by complaining that the two were kept apart. He is also bitter that Imogen loves Posthumus and rejects him. The first lord flatters and insults Imogen at once, saying her looks and judgment do not match, while the second lord makes several private jokes at Cloten’s expense. Cloten, frustrated, decides to go to his chamber and wishes some injury had been done, then invites the lords to leave with him.
