Cymbeline — Act 2, Scene 1: Britain. Before Cymbeline's palace.

Cloten enters still angry about losing at bowls and about being corrected for his swearing, and he complains that his rank makes other men afraid to fight him. The two lords mock him privately while pretending to agree, exposing his foolishness and self-importance. Cloten then hears that an Italian stranger has arrived at court, likely a friend of Posthumus, and decides to go look at him, hoping to recover his losses by winning money from him. After Cloten leaves, the second lord speaks alone, condemning the Queen’s influence and Cloten’s stupidity, and pitying Imogen for being surrounded by such danger.
