Cymbeline — Act 2, Scene 3: An ante-chamber adjoining Imogen's apartments.

At dawn, Cloten tries again to win Imogen by sending musicians to her chamber, but the song has no effect. Cymbeline and the Queen arrive, and the king explains that Imogen still grieves for Posthumus, so Cloten must wait. The Queen advises Cloten to court Imogen patiently and indirectly. A messenger then announces Roman ambassadors, including Caius Lucius, and Cymbeline prepares to receive them, leaving Cloten behind. Cloten bribes a lady to gain access to Imogen, but she is cold and scorns him. When he insults Posthumus, Imogen sharply defends her husband, then sends Pisanio to look for a missing bracelet. Cloten leaves angry and vows revenge.
