Cymbeline — Act 5, Scene 4: A British prison.

In a British prison, two gaolers bring Posthumus in chains and leave him to his fate. Alone, he welcomes imprisonment as a release from guilt and asks the gods for a chance to repent fully, even if it means death. He prays for Imogen and falls asleep. In a dream, his father Sicilius, his mother, and his two dead brothers appear and plead with Jupiter to show mercy to Posthumus, arguing that he has suffered enough. Jupiter descends, rebukes them, and promises that Posthumus will be lifted up and united with Imogen. He leaves a tablet on Posthumus’s chest, and when Posthumus wakes, a gaoler comes to take him to the king.
