King Lear — Act 3, Scene 1: A heath.

On the stormy heath, Kent meets a Gentleman and learns that King Lear is still outside in the storm, cursing the weather and tearing at his own hair while only the Fool stays with him. Kent asks about the state of the kingdom and hears that Albany and Cornwall are already divided and that France has sent forces into England. He warns the Gentleman to hurry to Dover and look for Cordelia, giving him a purse and a ring as proof of his message. Kent then says he will go search for Lear, and the two agree to signal each other if either finds the king first.
