King Lear — Act 4, Scene 7: A tent in the French camp.

In a tent at the French camp, Lear lies asleep while Cordelia, Kent, the Physician, and others wait quietly. Cordelia thanks Kent for his loyalty, but he refuses to be fully recognized yet. The doctor says Lear has slept long enough, and Cordelia orders the music louder as they prepare to wake him. When Lear wakes, he is confused, believes he has been brought from the grave, and slowly realizes where he is and who Cordelia is. He admits his weakness and asks forgiveness. The doctor warns that the shock of memory is still dangerous. After everyone else leaves, Kent and a Gentleman discuss Cornwall’s death and the changing military situation.
