Othello, the Moore of Venice — Act 3, Scene 3: The garden of the castle.

In the castle garden, Desdemona meets Cassio with Emilia and promises to keep pressing Othello to forgive him. Cassio leaves as Othello and Iago arrive, and Iago immediately plants suspicion by reacting to Cassio’s departure. Desdemona asks Othello to restore Cassio, but he delays her while she repeatedly urges him. When she leaves, Iago questions Othello about Cassio and Desdemona, then warns him against jealousy and suggests that Desdemona may be deceiving him. Othello begins to doubt her. After Desdemona drops her handkerchief, Emilia picks it up, and Iago takes it from her, planning to use it against Cassio.
