Pericles, Prince of Tyre — Act 3, Scene 2: Ephesus. A room in Cerimon's house.

In Ephesus, Cerimon orders food and fire for shipwrecked men and shows his charitable, learned nature while speaking with two gentlemen about the storm that shook their lodgings. His servants then bring in a sea-washed chest, which he has opened. Inside he finds the body of a richly prepared woman and a letter identifying her as Thaisa, the wife of King Pericles, who has been lost at sea. Believing she may still be revived, Cerimon uses heat, perfumes, cloths, and music to warm her. His treatment works, and Thaisa awakens, confused and asking where she is and where her husband has gone. Cerimon has her carried to another room for care.
