The Comedy of Errors — Act 4, Scene 3: A public place.

Antipholus of Syracuse, still confused by the strange welcome he has received in Ephesus, complains that everyone treats him like a friend and even a tailor has measured him for clothes. Dromio of Syracuse arrives with the gold and explains, in his usual jokes, that an officer has stopped the master from leaving and that the money is meant for his release. Before they can make sense of it, a Courtezan comes in and asks for the ring and chain Antipholus had promised her. Antipholus and Dromio take her for a devil and drive her away. Left alone, the Courtezan decides to go to Adriana and accuse him of taking her ring.
