The Comedy of Errors — Act 5, Scene 1: A street before a Priory.

Angelo and the Second Merchant confront Antipholus of Syracuse about the gold chain Angelo says he received from him and was then denied. The Second Merchant demands payment, and the two men draw swords. Adriana, Luciana, and the Courtezan arrive and stop the fight, but Adriana thinks Antipholus of Syracuse is mad and sends him and Dromio to the Priory for safety. The Lady Abbess, Emilia, refuses Adriana’s demand to take her husband home and argues that jealousy and harsh treatment may have driven him to his present state. While they speak, Duke Solinus arrives to oversee the case of Aegeon’s execution, and then Antipholus of Ephesus is brought in, followed by the other pair of twins.
